Dental professionals are convinced plaque is their nemesis. We curse its presence and tell our patients they need to brush more frequently. Yet, the scientific evidence indicates plaque (in some cases) can provide colonization resistance against cariogenic bacteria. What can we do for our patients to help them grow this beneficial plaque? The simple answer may surprise you…
Course objectives:
-- Explain the mixed ecological approach to caries causation
-- Understand when to recommend appropriate therapies
-- Integrate white spot reversal and white spot prevention strategies
-- Stop watching lesions get bigger and see them get smaller
